SDHC cards/memory cards in general: does brand matter?

I am about to buy a SDHC card, I would like to buy a 16GB class 6 one.
I have found a couple, ranging from $80 to like $170, I believe, all are "16GB Class 6 SDHC"
Brands are:
Patriot
ATP

I just wanted to know if it's possible for a cheaper SDHC card to be, essentially identical in performance and reliability, and also if anyone on here knows of either of these two brands.
Thank you all very much.
michael

My Camera: must take pretty pictures

not sure about either brands, but let me say that you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket. Better buying multiple smaller cards than 1 big one.

cool, thanks.
i would like to avoid that, though, having a bunch of cards to swap around, even though I know a lot of photogs do that....
guess i'll try one of these or go with something really well known like, idk, Sandisk or the like....

I bought (2) 8GB Class 6 by Transcend for $30/ea. Memory will only get cheaper so I decided to buy the most memory while keeping it under $50. I'm sure the 16GB cards will come down soon.

Where did you get that deal? I bought 2 of those cards, identical to what you have, and paid $90 each.

Ok - that makes sense. Dumb me didnt read the format. Mine are CompactFlash, hence the reason why I paid more.

I use the Transcend ones, cause they are the cheapest 266X CF cards.
