My Camera: canon eos 40d

a900 to be under 2k$

Sony's Next Gen Alpha A900 DSLR: 25 Megapixels, Due By September

A forum post on DP Review says that pricing info for Sony's upcoming full-frame 25-megapixel flagship a900 DSLR went out to reps about a month ago, and that Sony's aiming to to bring it to market for under two grand.

If true, that'd make it incredibly, stupidly cheap as far as major megapixel, full-frame cameras go, putting it more in prosumer than pure pro territory, somewhere between Canon's 5D and Nikon's D300, and way below either company's pro cams. Let's not hold our breaths yet, though. [DP Review via Photography]

My Camera: Nikon D300

Sony has had that 25MP sensor for some time now. I remember when the rumor was Sony was going to sell it to Nikon to compete against Canon, but then a few weeks later Sony said they were keeping it for their own flagship camera. Nikon still has a 20+ MP DSLR coming out in the D3X.

IMHO Sony doesnt command the lens attention that Canon and Nikon get so the significant price point will help inch them in the market. I think Sony expected to be further into it after they purchased Minolta.

I do like Sony Point and Shoots though.

I see, so sony realized there's more money if they sell their own product to consumers rather than just selling it to nikon.

Price does sound like a good idea for the product,

Specially to newbies like me.

My Camera: disposable

switching to a different brand can actually be more costly depending on how much you've invested in glass and accessories.

25 megapixel? Jesus. Are they making a billboard ad?

you can have the uber megapixel camera but if the lenses arnt up to snuff then your pics still will be shit

The real use of high MPXL cameras isnt in the blowing up (Although it helps but if your doing billboards chances are your using a medium format like hassleblad) but cutting down
especially like nature photog where your shooting far away and cutting down to a full perameter shot
