Favorite photographer?

Who are your favorite photographers? Favorite landscape, sports, wedding, local etc? Why?

Ansel Adams was a showoff.

He seriously has some amazing photos.

Henri Cartier-Bresson has to be on the list as well. pretty much the founding father of "real life" photography that so many people strive for.

Amazing panoramic landscapes. I can't wait to spend some time in one of his galleries in a few weeks.

I enjoy Mike Stimpson's photography. His screename on Flickr is Balakov. He uses a lot of macro lighting and claims to have self-taught himself everything just from reading strobist.com

My Camera: Konica/Minolta Maxxum 7D

Eadweard Muybridge, for his motion studies
Harold Edgerton ('Papa Flash')
WeeGee for his NY street scenes and personalities
Dorothea Lange for her dustbowl images

Nick Ut for his Pulitzer Prize winning photo showing a young Kim Phuc on June 8, 1972. This photo can still bring a lump to my throat and makes my eyes a little watery. If you don't know the history of this image it's well worth looking up.

and, my all-time favorite, W. Eugene Smith. Probably one of the most powerful documentary photographers of the 20th century - see his Minamata series, or his work on Albert Schweitzer. The photo "Tomoko Uemura in Her Bath" is possibly one of the most powerful images of all time, showing the results of industrial mercury contamination in Japan.

I'm a fan of Asahel Curtis. Local pictures of Seattle and Mt. Rainier are great.

I really like his stuff, very cool. I wanna shoot an REI ad :(

Can we go hang out in his studio?

In one of the Reebok ads, the guy is clearly carrying. Do you think they called it on him?

And he shoots Nikon.

every now and again I am here. Though you are right. Busy as hell now catching up from the shoots in June. Still one more to go this month down in Vegas. WERA Nationals and the temps are already looking to be around 110 degrees...and there is a 6 hour endurance race.

I need a body double

Be sure to have a few brewskis while down in Vegas!
