My renter's insurance covered everything - a lot of camera equipment, all of my audio gear (Teac 10" reel-to-reel, a lot of other mid- and high-end stuff). What *really* helped was that I had photos showing the racks of equipment, and receipts or owners manuals for most everything. I had 'full replacement cost' insurance, and I wound up getting a BIG check for what they had determined was the price of equivalent, current equipment. (I upgraded a lot of my gear at that point, since electronics prices had actually gone down quite a bit.) Some things were not available, or what the insurance company decided was 'equivalent' really wasn't. For a few items I bought a replacement and was able to submit paperwork and got additional money for a few specific purchases. Check your homeowner's/renter's insurance to see how well you are covered. Some policies have limits on cameras and electronics that may be below what you really have. In those cases you can usually get a rider or umbrella type of coverage to add higher value items. The price I paid in NY turned out to be well worth it.
