How much editing do you do in portrait shots?

Does a picture become “fake” if you edit out people’s blemishes? Is there a rule of moderation for editing people’s blemishes out of portrait shots?

I’ve always felt if the blemish is temporary (i.e. acne), then I’ll edit it out. If the blemish is permanent (i.e. mole), then I’ll leave it be.

What’s your approach?

I'd agree.

Permanent = stay in photo.

Temporary = edit it out.
