yeah that too.

Further definition is when something is so bright it causes you to loose definition/detail. I'm still learning about this and all these terms too

people get confused when the sun comes out. they can't quite comprehend what it is making everything so bright.

My Camera: Canon 20d

what you did was use the brown spots as your metering point which unfortunately washed out the white where as if you used the white to meter you could have brought up the tonal qualities in the brown without washing out the white

At least that would be my guess

Excellent composition though you aced that part

My Camera: disposable

from the looks of the picture, it was at f/1.8, therefore the lens may have been letting in too much light for the situation and the camera didn't have a fast enough shutter speed to compensate, especially if the iso was set to auto (200 and up), thus overexposing the image. that's one of the catches of a really fast lens.

with the d80 maxing out at 1/4000, i can imagine that's what happened.

Ok thats it, I need a new camera then. It looks like the D300 maxes out at 1/8000 and looks like its a baddass so I'm gonna check into those.

It's not the camera...it's the photog. Just learn how to meter properly and you will get the shot.
