My Camera: Nikon D40

Mount Rainier Senic Railroad 22 June 2008

This is just a couple random ones of what I shot yesterday. Shot in raw, converted to JPG with CS3 and put online. Not edited at all.

So in the top 3 images, what was the subject? Rainier? Out of everything in the photos, only 5-10% is in focus. That's normally not a bad thing in macros, but I think with the super long shots you were taking, it doesn't work as well.

Also, the "blurry" objects in the foreground don't do anything to assist the shot. They don't provide framing or size reference.

I'm not trying to come across super negative. To me it seems you could have framed the shot differently and had it turn out better. My newbie .02.

I have a TON more but those are just a few random ones I picked out of the bunch.

Thanks, KMD.

MM: Yeah, I didn't want to switch to the longer lens and I wanted the bikes in the shot. I wish I had a way to get them in focus AND the mountain. Boo.

PS and thats why i carry a tripod

With the tripod you could take a pic with the bike in focus then take another with the mountain then combine them either HDR or cut and paste

My Camera: disposable

also, closing your aperture will increase your dof. but that may require a tripod, since it'll decrease your shutterspeed.

Because CS3 does a better job of making JPGs than the camera.
