camera gear maintenance

i just want to know what you guys do to keep your camera runninggreat and keeping em alive.

im still new at this even though i bought my camera last may compared to you guys im still a green apple.

ive never done anything to mycamera as far as maintenance and cleaning goes.

do you send yur gear to shop?
doyou do your own maintaining and cleaning?

and as the amount of pictres goes, is there an amount of clicks that i have to send my camera to a shop to get it checked up like a car getting miles going for an oil change?

thanx you, replies would be very much appreciatted.

i was wondering because my pictures dont looks as sharp as before, maybe sensor got shaken up, or is not working right, or my hands are too shakey because im craving for a gass of beer haha
i have a 40d maybe some issues i should know about if you got yours serviced.

again, thanx ;p

From what i know you don't need to do regular maintenance. 40D has a lot of problems.
as far as your pictures not being as sharp, did you get a new lens? sometimes you will have to send your camera in to get it calibrated for the lens or your lens might have focusing problem. you can test your lens if it's focusing properly or not yourself. not sure if Jr still has it but he had a paper which you can test your cameras focus on.

it may just need to be sent in for calibration. if you can part with it for a couple weeks, it wouldn't hurt to send in your body and lenses to canon and ask them to calibrate it. it's under warranty work and you can be upfront and say that it's lost some sharpness since you've bought it.

Hooters? ha, that place is more ghetto than freemont. I'll PM you my number. Just an FYI, if you call or text me down there, I'll probably be drunk. I'm driving in from LA, get there between 2 and 6am on Thursday.
