Basically Promaster 17-50mm is a re-branded Tamron 17-50mm (without motor drive).

Uh, Promaster isn't exactly a brand that inspires confidence...

Anyone had any hands-on experience with one of those? A 17-50 2.8 for $200 sounds good, possibly too good to be true.

it's a rebranded tamron apparently.
