My Camera: Lumix DMC-FZ20
New Here. Anyone with an inbetween camera?

Hey, just found this site and looks pretty cool.

I'm new to photography and just recently upgraded from my Olympus P&S to an in between camera - in between a P&S and a DSLR.

Anyone else have one of these "in betweeners" that they are using?

Mine is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 and so far I love it. Picture quality isn't quite a DSLR but better than a lot of the P&S's. It has 12x optical zoom through a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 1:2.8/6-72 lens (upgradeable to tele, wide, etc.) with IS, fully manual controls or auto, with scene selection, burst, decent built in flash (up to 23 feet) with a hot shoe (?) to upgrade to a better flash. Got it for a steal up in Kirkland. I almost bought a Canon Powershot A590 but this one was a tad cheaper and had more zoom capability.

I did my research and tried to find what would fit me the best. I like to take photos of landscapes on my rides, adventures with the doggies, maybe a few bike nights, some of the landscaping the wife and I do, action shots maybe at the track, and maybe a little bit of everything else. I only had about $150 to spend so I was VERY limited with my budget.

I like that it has the optical LCD and the regular LCD so I can look through the optical like my old 35 mm SLR but also has the viewfinder.

Here is what mine looks like:

Anyone using something like this that is not a full DSLR but not quite a P&S? Curious about your opinion.

Like I said, I"m a newbie so don't expect anything decent. Mostly I've been taking pics of my dogs and some macros of my flowers growing in the backyard.

Look forward to meeting all you guys and gals. From what I have been seeing you guys all take awesome shots so hopefully I will learn something too.
