Very nice, does anyone complain when you use a flash? I have always wondered if it bothered them.

These are nice, I always wanted to go to our local games and give it a try, but always forget they play on Thursday nights.
Are you using a Better Beemer or just a giant metz flash?

The only ones that have complained about the flash are parents in the stands, the players playing don't even notice because they are concentrating on the play. I forgot where the info is now, but the flash does not affect their vision or what they see unless you are right up in their face with it, the eyes just don't react that fast to such a short duration flash of light. On a football field you are easily beyond the distance that would affect them. In Washington, the WIAA allows for use of a flash for football on the sidelines... actually it's ok for all sports except for volleyball, gymnastics and the starts of swimming (because they use a flash for part of the timing system to start at some venues).
I'm using the 580EXII flash direct, it's mounted about 24" below the camera/lens on the monopod on an off camera cord. |
