My goal for the weekend, while I was shooting photos, was improving my composition. This one was one of my better pictures taken. Very little postprocessing was done.

The composition is good but what is throwing me off is the blown out sky. I think a split-ND filter would have helped a ton here.

Daniel, nice photo for sure. Sharp, I like your dock photo from this shoot.
Like eric said, (and we talked about weeks ago) was teh setback of the blown out sky. |

I think a vertical composition would work very well here to accentuate the masts of the boats also allowing or causing you to crop tighter and possibly eliminate the majority of the sky and subsequent "blown out sky" issues. This possible tighter crop could also eliminate the buildings on the right edge of the photo which make it feel a bit busy over there.

Ditto to eric and motog. The photo is amazing, but the sky is super bright.
