New guy here underwater

Hey everyone, not sure where to put this but beans can move it later.

Anyways I'm not a big photographer but it is something I do enjoy. Especially underwater. My last trip was to the bahamas for shark diving over spring break. I shot with just a cannon G9 in an Ikalite housing with an external flash. My brother is the main photographer. He shoots with a Cannon 10D(Great for underwater!) in a subal housing. I'll be inheriting that soon and he'll upgrade.

Any other scuba divers here?

Also, I'm happy to answer any questions you have on scuba and/or underwater photography.

See a few of my "meh" shots from the trip here. Best I could do with that lil G9.

Your reluctant to upgrade when your underwater housing and ports (the glass on the front of the housing, changes for different lenses) cost over 4 grand to replace with the cheapest brand. Housings cost much much more than the cameras.

Speaking of, this is what I shot with, soon to take my brothers old rig.

This is the cheapest of the cheap housings, just 600 bucks (trust me thats a steal for a housing)

This is my brothers set up, a much more expensive machined housing with the most perfect glass you will ever see in the dome port

There are ways to make a 5D fit in this housing (its for a 10D) but certain controls don't work etc.
