| Administrator | Iranian New Years Eve: Chahar-Shanbeh Soori at West Seattle Chahar-Shanbeh Soori is the Iranian New Years Eve, and the tradition is to setup rows of fires for people to run and jump over each fire. I tried to not use a flash, wanted to capture the essence of the evening. Bottom line is my pictures did not turn out as good as I wanted. It was also difficult capturing so much movement with such low lighting. Here are some pics from this cold evening on West Seattle: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And this one was my favorite of the night: ![]()

| Administrator | Yeah, I shot all of those at ISO 3200. Fireworks caught me off guard, and I didnt have my camera settings right. Here, you can see how much noise at ISO 3200, but still it faired better than what my D200 would have done: ![]()

Last year the new year was on a Wed, so it was like a new years eve. It is not always like that though. Let's say if the new year is on a Mon, then Chaharshanbe Souri would be the preceding Tue, 6 days before the new year. My camera still smells smoky from that night! |
