My Camera: Nikon D300

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

So, let me be very blunt - I SUCK at taking pictures of flowers! I have no eye for it! Even pictures that I thought would be cool, just looked horrible when I checked them out at home.

Then, I thought I had some decent ones, but then I looked at other people's pictures of flowers, and I realize my composition and perspective and eye is just horrible uggg....

One of the mistakes I made was my choice of lens. I opted to go the convenient route and just brought my 18-200, thinking this one lens would serve an entire days worth of photos, but I realized it worked great at everything but some of the close ups for flowers. I dont have a macro lens (am still pondering the 105 macro), but I had a 50mm 1.8 that I did not bring, but would have been much better.

So here are my sucky pictures... I'd like to try again another time, I really need to get better at taking flower pictures.

My Camera: Pentax K20D

So, beyond the harsh light in some of them, what's wrong with 'em?

Shooting flowers in the wild is always PITA because you can't control the environment. You learn to compose the ones you can and crop the ones you can't.
